Oregon Redwoods - They didn't get 'em all!
But they did get this one. Seeking the sun we drove east of Brookings about 7 miles along the Chetco River to The Oregon Redwoods State Park. Beautiful day. Beautiful trees.
Brookings Boondoggle
Two and a half hours from Ashland - the coast! It's blazing hot in Ashland, so we came over to Brookings for some cooler weather and a change of scene. It's in the 100's in Ashland; it's in the low 60's here. So, with warm clothes and hiking poles, we set out on a 7 miler along the beautiful Boardman Corridor with its gorgeous hiking trails and views. What a state!
The Coast is clear.
On the spur of the moment, we drove 2 hours to Brookings along the southern Oregon coast. On a beautiful day, we discovered the Secret Beach which turned out to not be secret but nonetheless only had a few intrepid visitors. We had to pick our way down a rocky slope to get to the beach: again, fear conquered. What a great feeling to walk along this pristine beach with the waves gently kissing the shore.
