But they did get this one. Seeking the sun we drove east of Brookings about 7 miles along the Chetco River to The Oregon Redwoods State Park. Beautiful day. Beautiful trees.

Two and a half hours from Ashland - the coast! It's blazing hot in Ashland, so we came over to Brookings for some cooler weather and a change of scene. It's in the 100's in Ashland; it's in the low 60's here. So, with warm clothes and hiking poles, we set out on a 7 miler along the beautiful Boardman Corridor with its gorgeous hiking trails and views. What a state!

For the 4th of July, Ron BBQ'ed chicken and made delicious coleslaw/potato salad which we enjoyed alfresco. My 75th birthday was another quiet affair. But, with phone calls, video chats, cards and a very special gift from my niece, it was a wonderful day.
Click for more pictures >We decided to have a little 3 day get-away to the Mt. Shasta area, about a one and 1/2 hour drive south of Ashland. Our cabin was right on Lake Siskiyou, a beautiful, serene lake with views galore. We hiked around the lake (7 miles) and the next day to Castle Lake and Heart Lake. Beautiful views everywhere you look.
