First there is the architecture: this happens to be the train station where we will be tomorrow AM for a 4 hour trip on Dunedin Railways into Taieri Gorge. But today we walked around the downtown area with it's interesting old buildings then off to the seashore for a look at the penguins.
Just a few of the old buildings, this one for the Otago Press Times - which we are reading in our hotel room at the moment!
Another beauty! You don't think of these kind of edifices in a small town at the end of the South Island of New Zealand. This could be Europe!
Then off to this beautiful seashore (still in the town of Dunedin which we learned is the largest city in NZ, land-wise). We saw fur seals, sea lions, and yellow-eyed penguins here - and you will too in the next photos!
We saw them coming and going in the surf, too, but a little too far away to capture on film.
