Portland to Boothbay Harbor

OK, We had to do it . . . LL Bean owns Freeport, ME, or at least it looked that way. This little town exists for shoppers. We left without a purchase of anything. Then, on to the Maritime Museum in Bath where the early ships were made. What an accomplishment for some rugged men of yore. They don't make 'em like that anymore - ships and men.

Portsmouth to Portland - Maine, that is . . . .

We got on the road early to Portsmouth, ME on a rainy morning and arrived at Strawberry Banke Museum Village. This house wasn't part of the village but it was on a nearby street. The village was a collection of old houses that have been there for over 3 centuries. After touring the village we went on to Portland via Perkins Cove where we had a delicious lunch and took a walk along the 3 mile Marginal Way. Then on to Portland. This Portland is so much like a European town we weren't sure we were in the US.
