Today we drove out of the city and over to Île d'Orleans, the idyllic island in the St. Lawrence River just outside of Quebec City. Known for it's amazing agriculture, we passed fields of strawberries (that's what a strawberry should taste like!) and trees loaded with apples. The houses were straight out of a storybook. Then on to Baie St-Paul arriving just in time for lunch. The fall colors were in full brilliance. Coming back to Quebec City we stopped at Montmorency Falls - it's even higher than Niagara Falls.

The Frontenac Hotel overlooking the St. Lawrence River
Today we wandered the streets of Quebec City, first with a 2 hour guided walking tour then on our own. According to our 'app' we logged 10.5 miles and felt like we deserved the cocktail at this magnificent hotel at the end of our day. It honestly feels like Europe in Quebec City, complete with bus and cruise ships loaded with tourists flooding the streets. The sun was shining most of the day but by 4pm it started to rain. Whether it was the rain or the people returning to their cruise ships/sightseeing couches, after 4pm we had the place mostly to ourselves. Nice.
