At the main park in Christchurch - this is the outpouring response of the citizens of Christchurch and all New Zealand citizens to the senseless loss of life here a week or so ago. This 'memorial' to those who were killed was so impactful, it was impossible to not have tears. The flowers and messages went on for several long blocks.

The rebuilding of Christchurch after the 2011 earthquake is coming along but there is still a lot to do.

What is being built is completely awesome. This is the Art Museum, which we visited this afternoon. Beautiful building, impressive exhibits.

We took a tour of the city and the nearby beaches. The kids learning to surf out in the water had no wetsuits. These New Zealanders are really tough and the Christchurch kids are used to the more chilling waters of the South Island
